About Me
As founder it is my responsibility and commitment to pool together resources in
one location for an intentional purpose and use to encourage as well as promote
healthy, balanced growth for young women stepping into adulthood.
What made me want to:
I was a late bloomer regarding recognizing, embracing and accepting my resources
during my adolescent years into early adulthood. At times I just didn’t know how
to connect socially with others being that I was shy to the fact of not knowing the
“the next steps” when others seemed to have it all figured out.
I was also sheltered growing up because my mom’s main concern was to keep us
safe. Therefore I became comfortable being “safe” I did not yearn to venture out;
much of my adventures I would find in reading. My mother was a single mom that
was in college initially to obtain a degree in Education to become a teacher.
However she had to drop some classes to provide for us .It was extremely hard for
her to raise a family work and attend school. She eventually became a Teacher’s
Assistant then gained her Child Development Associate credentials. Now she was
able to send us all to private schools from 7 th through the 12 th grade. This was a
huge accomplishment. She provided for my siblings and me the best education she
could by placing us in this environment overflowing with resources. While the
majority of her time would be spent working in order to keep us there. As for me,
the youngest of three children sometimes I didn’t have a clue on what I needed to
do next until I’d look up to see other students doing it and by then it seemed it was
too late. Mom was tired when she got in from work and I didn’t want to bother her
with my questions about life and school. However I always had in my mind I’ll
catch up, I’ll get to it. After high school I attended Cittone Institute, previously in
Edison NJ, to obtain my CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) in which I
accomplished at the age of 19. I did an Internship at Summit Medical Group where
I was hired immediately following my internship. To further my career I went back
to School attending Berkley College and completing their LPN program.
Y-W-I Resources
The ah-ha moment make highlight
However my “ah-ha” moment of realizing I didn’t have to run in the day to day rat
race trying to keep up and be like others. God actually wants me to do more than
just the 9-5 he graciously gifted me for as well. To me it was like the 9-5 cultivated
me for Gods will in my life.
This didn’t hit me until my late twenties between the ages of 25- 29. This for me
was pretty late, most are further into their careers by then so I thought .After much
needed time spent with God seeking direction for the next steps in my career; it
was like an epiphany happened. I could see my path clearer than I ever did before.
It’s not about me but what I can do to help and serve others therefore “being about
my father’s business. Always remember it’s never too late God has a plan. I just
want to be a bridge to help young women succeed intentionally. Once recognized
then how to tap into surrounding resource then they can apply them intentionally
and directly so that they may benefit in their day to day lives growing and showing
their potential towards a positive, promising, productive future and that’s a
powerful young women that’s informed.
I’m encouraged to be the bridge for the hard working parents and those parents
that may not have the chance and time to sit down to review these resources so our
young women will not to miss out on time and opportunities as I may have done so
in the past.
….My name is Carol E. Black and that it my reason of wanting to.
